What People Are Saying

"Jared Wilson writes with power. That is, he is both reasonable and compelling. His writing offers me reasons why I should care, why I should agree with him, then he shows me what difference it makes."
-- Ray Ortlund, Jr.
Pastor, Immanuel Church

"Every so often, as the cultural decor changes, Jesus gets a fresh coat of varnish to help him fit in. But what does he really look like underneath it all? In The Unvarnished Jesus, Jared Wilson finds out. Applying a talent well-known to his blog readers for making theology interesting and accessible without diluting its impact, Wilson strips away the man-made saviors to reveal a loving, unaccommodated Christ. The book is witty and provocative, also deeply challenging. It not only colors in twelve portraits of Jesus, but also provides the special glasses so you can see them in 3D."
-- J. Mark Bertrand
Author, Rethinking Worldview: Learning to Think, Live, and Speak in this World (Crossway)

"What do I think of Jared Wilson? I wish he were my pastor. Jared understands the gospel, the Savior, his own heart and the compassion of God for people. He's a voice for the church as a missional movement of Jesus followers in a world of broken, grace-starved humans for whom Christ lived, died and rose again. He's a man of integrity, truth and graciousness with a straightforward writing style that connects with me and many others. If you can, read him, hear him and believe him, because he knows Jesus and will help you know him as well."

Campus Minister, Oneida Baptist School

"I research, write and teach for a living, so imagine my delight at discovering Jared Wilson. Too many times to recall I find his thinking about an issue is similar to mine, but sharper, or that his articulation of a matter is similar, but better. Jared writes in a manner that reflects the breadth of his academic, literary and popular reading, but also that winsomely engages a wide audience. His voice is incisive, funny, and gracious, and I love to read him."
-- Glenn Lucke
Author, Common Grounds: Conversations About the Things That Matter Most (B&H)

"Five years ago when I started writing online, my goal was to write like Jared Wilson. Not only can Jared write about topics as varied as theology and pop culture (or even the culture of pop theology) but he does so in a manner that is clear, engaging, and winsome. Over the years I've had some degree of success in aping his manner of writing; but I've never been able to match his wit or intelligence. Jared is truly a gifted communicator. Like everyone who has followed his work, I'm eager to read his recent book."
